Doctor of Psychological Therapies, Transforming Care with Evidence, Inclusivity & Compassion
As the Founder & Director of Thrive Recovery Ltd, I aim to set new standards of inclusive, exceptional care — where individuals and services alike can flourish, and where recovery is always possible.
I have particular interest and expertise in the intersections between eating disorders, sexuality, gender, and neurodivergence.
Speaker, Educator & Lived Experience Voice, Championing Meaningful Recovery
I work directly with clients in therapy and clinical supervision. I also support organisations to improve their inclusivity & skills, and develop innovative treatment & care pathways.
Education & Qualifications
I’ve trained in a wide range of therapy modalities, including all three specialist eating disorder talking therapy treatments (MANTRA, CBT-E, and SSCM), compassion-focused therapy, schema therapy, CBT, DBT, and solutions-focused therapy.
My clinical training has been person-centred-based and integrative which means I bring together different techniques and skills in my practice to develop a personalised approach for each client.
I am an Accredited Registrant with the NCPS (Membership number NCPS3019) and Registered Member of the BACP (Register Number 391836).
Clinical Leadership
I’ve worked within and alongside the NHS in roles across the public, private, and charity sectors in eating disorders, complex mental health, substance misuse, and homelessness.
Director of Clinical Services
ABBI Clinic, eating disorder day-hospital providing support in the Northwest of England for adolescents & adults with all eating disorders.
Clinical Lead
Stockport NHS Adult Community Eating Disorders Service, provided by not-for-profit organisation Oakwood Psychology Services.
Social Recovery Lead
Humankind, charity conducting community outreach & rehabilitation work for people with addictions and complex mental health difficulties.
Lived Experience
I’ve been tending the garden of my own eating disorder recovery for well over a decade – and I’m still learning something new about the process regularly. I am also a suicide attempt survivor, and am so grateful to have this second chance at life to make a positive ripple effect for others. More recently, I’ve gone through the journey of adult ADHD diagnosis – this new perspective on my brain has changed so much for me!

Hobbies & Interests
Many of my own interests and hobbies influence my work as a therapist and supervisor, and I’ve found that they can be a great way to connect with clients! Some things that bring me joy: painting, board games, DJing, video games, aerial/circus arts, live music/festivals, gardening, cooking/baking, hiking, DIY, tennis, yoga…
Outdoor Sessions
I offer walk and talk sessions for therapy clients and supervisees in nature around Glossop.
We can practice in-the-moment regulating and mindfulness skills using what’s around us in the natural world.
Almost every photo on my website is a photo I’ve taken in/around Glossop!
I also keep duck food in my office if we want to go find a smile by feeding the ducks while we talk.
If you find gentle movement to be helpful for you to think/regulate, we can also do some gentle yoga/stretching in my office – I have lots of floor space!
Using Art in Sessions
I keep a variety of art materials in my office, including watercolour and gouache paints, markers, different papers and ceramic objects to paint on or with.
I use art materials with clients and supervisees to help us express things that are hard to put into words, maintain gentle focus and engagement, or to step deeper into emotions and body sensations.
I also use art as a vehicle to support those recovering from perfectionism, who struggle with patience, or black-and-white thinking. Creative expression can help our brains process things differently.
Sensory Supportive Sessions
I invite all clients and supervisees to use their time with me and my therapy space in the way most supportive for them. You’re welcome to take your shoes off, sit on the floor, and use any of my many fidget toys dotted around – and I’ll happily join you, if you’d like!
We can also put music or incense on during your session, or work on a jigsaw puzzle together while we talk – I have a fair few in my room and am happy to loan them out too! I want to make any adjustments we can to make you feel most comfortable.
About Thrive Recovery
Growth in Every Landscape
I chose a cactus for Thrive’s logo because to me, they’re the perfect symbol of growth being possible, even in adversity. Cacti are strong, unique, and quietly full of life, and flourish in tough environments—a reminder that so can we. It’s also a nod to my own personal roots: I grew up in California, and the desert has always been my happy place, where I feel most peaceful and mindful (and where cacti are everywhere!)
